Report: Real Madrid at loggerheads over deal for Spurs star

Tottenham midfielder Christan Eriksen’s future has been a source of much speculation recently as the Dane has just one more year to run on his contract.

With Eriksen being no closer to agreeing on an extension, Tottenham might be forced to sell the midfielder this summer if they wish to get decent compensation for him.

The 27-year-old was reported to be one of the players interesting Real Madrid as the Zinedine Zidane attempts to rebuild their squad in the summer (AS).

It was thought that Eriksen would be a back up option for the Spanish giants in case they failed to land Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba (Marca).

However, the Daily Star now report that members of the Real Madrid hierarchy are internally at loggerheads over whether to pursue a deal for the Frenchman.

The report claims that while Zidane wants Pogba, Real Madrid President Florentino Perez wishes to push through moves for Spurs star Christian Eriksen and Lyon full-back Ferland Mendy.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that Eriksen is waiting to see if the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona will make an approach for him, which is why he has put off signing a new deal with the club.

However, if the Spanish giants don’t come in for him, we at Spurs Web believe the Dane will sing a new contract with Spurs as he clearly seems to be enjoying his football and seems to have bought into the club’s project.
