Report: Real Madrid confident they can sign Eriksen for this cut-price in January

According to a report in Marca, Real Madrid will bid for Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen in the January transfer window as they seek to strengthen their squad after a less than ideal start to the campaign.

The Dane is into the final year of his contract with Tottenham and the report claims that Spurs made one last-ditch contract offer but the 27-year-old turned it down and reiterated his desire to seek a new challenge.

The report also suggests that although Los Blancos know they can get the Spurs midfielder for free next summer, they are keen to push through a move in January as they feel Eriksen can add some much-needed firepower to their midfield.

The report also insists that Tottenham are also keen to do a deal in January as they want to avoid the risk of losing him on a free in the summer.

Back in the last transfer window, The Daily Mail reported that Tottenham wanted £70m for the playmaker.

However, ESPN have now revealed that Real Madrid are confident of signing Eriksen for just £25m in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

This is a deal that makes sense for all three parties. Tottenham need to get rid of Eriksen in January as he doesn’t seem likely to extend his contract and Madrid need reinforcements in midfield. Eriksen also looks like he desperately needs a new challenge to reinvigorate his career as his form has been quite poor of late. Take the £25m and run, Levy.
