Real Madrid remain of the opinion that Sergio Reguilón will be their long-term left back, despite selling him last month, according to Calciomercato.
The 23-year-old completed a move to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer for less than £28million, with the La Liga giants inserting a clause which can see them re-sign the Spanish international in either the summer of 2021 or 2022, with the North Londoners pocketing a profit in the region of £15million (Football.London).
Spurs were said not to be in the market for a new left-back but decided to move for Reguilón, who was a long-term target once he became available.
Madrid are currently well-equipped at left-back, with Brazil international Marcelo and France’s Ferland Mendy already on their books which would have limited Reguilón’s hopes of regular first team football.
Reguilón has enjoyed a successful start to life at Tottenham having impressed in his opening two matches against Chelsea and Manchester United.
