Report: Real Madrid could make move for 22-year-old Spurs target

According to a report from L’Equipe, Real Madrid could make a move for rumoured Tottenham target Jules Kounde this summer.

There has been plenty of speculation linking Kounde with a move to Spurs over the last month, with Gianluca Di Marzio even claiming the North London club had agreed on a fee of around €30m (£25.6m) plus Davinson Sanchez with Sevilla for the 22-year-old.

However, over recent days, it has become evident that Fabio Paratici is prioritising a move for Atalanta centre-back Cristian Romero, with the two parties expected to reach an agreement soon.

Football.London have claimed that signing Romero might not necessarily stop the North Londoners from also making a move for Kounde, with Sevilla’s interest in Davinson Sanchez giving the Lilywhites an advantage in their pursuit of the Frenchman.

If L’Equipe’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs could face competition from Real Madrid for the Sevilla star.

The report asserts that Los Blancos view Kounde as a potential replacement for Raphael Varane if the 28-year-old completes a move to Manchester United.

The report asserts that Sevilla could demand as much as €80m (£68.4m) for the centre-back this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Alasdair Gold has said a move to Real Madrid would be Kounde’s first-choice. However, it remains to be seen whether the La Liga giants can afford the 22-year-old given their financial problems. I also do not think it is realistic to expect Spurs to spend big on both Kounde and Romero unless we cash in on Kane.
