Report: Real Madrid enter race for Tottenham midfield man

The transfer saga revolving around Tanguy Ndombele has taken yet another twist this week, as the Frenchman has been linked with another top European club.

The midfielder’s future had already been subject to speculation following a poor first season in North London and L’Equipe reported on Saturday that the Frenchman was considering his future at the club, suggesting that the 23-year-old would be open to a move to Barcelona.

Tuesday’s edition of Sport (via by Sport Witness) claimed that the Catalans very much like the profile of the midfielder, although the same publication also reported that the deal a non-starter as Spurs had completely dismissed their approach.

Okdiario (relayed by Tribal Football) now claim that Barca’s fierce rival, Real Madrid, are ready to enter the race for the Tottenham star.

The report asserts that Los Blancos are looking to bring in a player to compete with Casemiro and Ndombele fits the bill perfectly.

It is suggested that Zinedine Zidane is a fan of his compatriot and Madrid could thus make an approach for the midfielder.

The Spanish media are even worse than the British press in their ability to spin rumours out of thin air. If it is the case that Tottenham dismissed Barcelona’s approach out of hand, I see no reason why the club will not do the same when Real Madrid make an offer for Ndombele.
