Report: Real Madrid give up on Tottenham star as they switch focus to Chelsea winger

Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen has quickly become one of the top players in his position in world football.

After acquiring him from Ajax back in 2012, Eriksen has gone from strength to strength, so it’s no surprise that he is now catching the eyes of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

The Great Dane’s current contract situation only acts as a catalyst to this too, with only 18 months left to run.

Spurs must therefore make the decision, either convince him to sign a new contract, sell him in the summer for profit, or risk letting him go on a free come 2020.

Recent reports have suggested that Real Madrid are interested in the playmaker, a club famous for pinching both Gareth Bale and Luka Modric from the Lilywhites (Express).

However, AS now claim that Real Madrid have given up on their Eriksen chase, perhaps due to a certain Mr Levy, and have instead turned their attentions to Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.
