Report: Real Madrid leading race for teenager wanted by Spurs

Real Madrid have been established as the favourites to sign Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, who is also said to be a target for Tottenham this summer according to the latest report by Spanish publication AS.

Camavinga first broke into the Rennes side last season but he has gone up another notch this campaign and established himself as an important part of the Ligue 1 side’s midfield.

Tottenham were first mentioned as a possible suitor for the 17-year-old’s signature by Sport last month, who also credited Liverpool with interest in the teenager.

Football.London also report that the Lilywhites could make a move for the midfielder, who is said to be rated at around £43 million.

However, AS now claim that Los Blancos are leading the race for Camavinga’s signature after Zinedine Zidane identified the youngster as a possible alternative to Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

It is suggested that a conversation with Zidane would be enough to see the youngster choose to head to Madrid over his other options.

The reason many of these rumours about our interest in young players is rather unreliable is that the report has likely been inferred from the fact that we have been scouting him. Perhaps, Joao Sacramento’s expertise of Ligue 1 played a decision in our role to track Camavinga. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean we are likely to bid for the midfielder this summer.
