Report: Real Madrid make contact with potential Bale replacement

According to Foot Mercato, Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is ready to part comapny with Gareth Bale and replace him with Manchester City wide man Riyad Mahrez this transfer window.

Tottenham reportedly hold an interest in the re-signing the Welshman (El Espanyol), with Real Madrid said to be hoping that Spurs make an offer for the 31-year-old (Ok Diario).

While some reports have indicated that Los Blancos might be willing to pay 50 per cent of the Welshman’s wages if they were to loan him out (The Telegraph), others have asserted that Bale is unlikely to leave unless he relieves a £60million pay off and terminates his contract (Daily Mail).

Foot Mercato suggest that Los Blancos are now eyeing a move for Mahrez as Zidane aims to bolster his frontline ahead of the new campaign.

It is said that the Spanish giants have made contact with the Algerian international’s entourage, although it remains to be seen if Manchester City will allow the winger to leave.

The report claims that the La Liga champions will only be able to afford Mahrez if they find a buyer for Gareth Bale.

Spurs Web Opinion

It seems unlikely that Real Madrid are going to find a buyer for Bale this summer. He is unlikely to push for a loan move as he seems happy to sit on his contract and force the club’s hand. While I would not be surprised if Levy tested the waters with a late offer, there is very little chance of a deal happening this window.
