Report: Real Madrid make Sergio Reguilon summer transfer decision

In a major boost to Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid have decided that they will not be activating Sergio Reguilon’s buy-back clause in the summer, according to Defensa Central.

Reguilon has surpassed expectations in his first season at Spurs and has been one of the standout left-backs across the Premier League.

Some reports from Spain have previously suggested that Real Madrid could be set to activate his release clause to bring him back to the club on the back of his exploits this season.

However, Defensa Central now claim that Reguilon will stay with Spurs for the entirety of the 2021/22 season as Los Blancos have decided not to pursue the Tottenham man this summer.

Even if Marcelo leaves, the Spanish giants reportedly believe that they have enough cover for Ferland Mendy, with David Alaba set to arrive at the Santiago Bernabeau in the summer and Nacho Fernandez also capable of filling in at left-back.

The report does go on to add that Madrid have not ruled out the possibility of bringing Reguilon back to the club in the summer of 2022, the last window in which their buy-back clause would be active.
