Report: Real Madrid make transfer decision regarding Spurs-linked midfielder

Recent reports have claimed that Arsenal and Tottenham are going head to head for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, with the Gunner now said to be the favourites to now land him on a season-long loan deal (The Mirror).

However, Ceballos is not the only Real Midfielder midfielder to be linked with Spurs this summer. The Sun reported last month that Tottenham were keen on Marco Asensio and demanded the 23-year-old in a part-exchange deal for Christian Eriksen.

Now, Spanish radio network Cadena SER have claimed that Madrid have now decided to hang on to Asensio for next season. The report claims that the midfielder will be an important part of Zinedine Zidane’s plans for the upcoming season.

It is suggested that while the Spanish giants were initially open to letting Asensio leave if they received the right offer, they have now changed their mind.

It is also claimed that as many as six different clubs made an approach for the Spanish international this summer but that they are all turned down by Los Blancos.

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on the recent links with the likes of Lo Celso and Ceballos, it doesn’t look like Pochettino is done adding to his midfield yet this summer. However, we at Spurs Web think that if one more midfielder joins the club, it is likely that we have seen the last of Eriksen in a Spurs shirt.
