Report: Real Madrid midfielder linked with Spurs tells Zidane he wants to leave

According to a report in Spanish publication AS, Real Midfield midfielder Dani Ceballos offered a simple response to his manager, Zinedine Zidane, when the Frenchman told him he is not in his plans for next season – He apparently told Zidane that he has no intention of continuing working with him either.

The report quotes the 22-year-old midfielder has having told Zidane, “No problem, boss – I didn’t want to carry on working with you, either”.

The Spanish U-21 international was a fringe figure during Zidane’s first spell in charge at Madrid and made just three appearances for Los Blancos following the coach’s return to the Bernabeu in March of last season.

Ceballos, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham this summer (El Desmarque) has already voiced his displeasure to the media at the lack of playing time at the Spanish capital (Onda Cero Radio).

This report in AS now confirms the breakdown in the relationship between him and the manager, and also maintains that the lilywhites are still leading the race for the technically gifted youngster.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Ceballos is no doubt extremely talented, we at Spurs Web believe that Tottenham should look to sign players of a higher calibre this window in order to help take the club to the next level.

Additionally, singing Ceballos will likely hamper the development of Harry Winks, who put in some excellent performances when he was fit last season.
