Report: Real Madrid player on Jose Mourinho’s list of transfer targets

Jose Mourinho is interested in signing Real Madrid defender Eder Militao, according to Spanish news outlet AS.

Militao who has played nine caps for Brazil joined Real Madrid for £43million from Porto in March 2019 but has struggled to establish himself in the side (Mirror).

The 22-year-old played 15 times in La Liga last season but has only been selected in three matches in all competitions this season and has had to make do with watching most of the action from the substitutes bench (transfermarkt) having not played since returning a positive coronavirus test in November (Daily Mail).

The report claims that Madrid would be prepared to allow the central defender to leave the Santiago Bernabeu, but would be expecting to recoup a similar fee to what they paid to Porto.

It is suggested that Mourinho has identified Militao due to the fact that he has not got full faith in Davinson Sanchez, while Toby Alderweireld’s injury earlier this season exposed their potential defensive fragilities with Joe Rodon playing alongside Eric Dier.
