Report: Real Madrid put two Tottenham targets and Luka Modric up for sale

Real Madrid are reportedly set to have a major clear out this summer, with several players deemed surplus to requirements including Spurs targets Gareth Bale and Mariano Diaz.

AS reports that Los Blancos have to sell players before they can bring others in due to the current size of their squad.

Apart from Bale and Diaz, James Rodriguez and Lucas Vazquez have also been put on the shopping list by the Spanish giants.

Although Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, has ruled out the possibility of the Welshman returning to North London (talkSPORT), the 31-year-old continues to be linked with a move to Spurs (the Express).

Spurs were reportedly interested in signing Diaz last summer (Okdiario) but the striker ended up staying in the Spanish capital.

Additionally, the report in AS also reveals that Real Madrid are ready to part ways with the likes of Nacho, Marcelo, Brahim Diaz and former Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric when the transfer market opens.

Spurs Web Opinion

While most Spurs fans seem to have given up on the idea of Bale ever returning, I can still see Levy pursuing the deal, particularly given Real Madrid’s keenness to get him off their wage bill. I certainly won’t put it beyond the realms of possibility this summer, particularly with Mourinho at the helm.
