Report: Real Madrid rekindle interest in signing Tottenham star

According to a report in Don Balon, Real Madrid could launch a move to bring Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane to the Santiago Bernabeau in the near future.

Kane has started the season on terrific form, having already notched up 14 goals and 12 assists in all competitions this campaign (transfermarkt.com).

The striker has admitted that he is playing the best football of his career as Tottenham currently sit at the top of the Premier League table.

Don Balon report that Real Madrid were previously keen on snapping up Kane but had cooled their interest in recent seasons.

It is said that Zinedine Zidane was against signing the England captain due to the injury problems he has suffered during the past couple of years.

However, with the Frenchman now potentially on the verge of leaving Los Blancos, the Spanish giants are said to have rekindled their interest in Kane.

Given that Kane’s current deal runs until 2024, Real Madrid are unlikely to be in a position to pay Daniel Levy’s asking price for the Spurs star, especially in the post-pandemic economy. Even if Madrid have around £200 million to spare, they will likely use that funds to sign the likes of Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe as Kane will be 28 next summer and will only have around four or five years left at the top level.
