Report: Real Madrid still keen to sell Bale

According to a report by The Telegraph, Real Madrid are still keen on selling Gareth Bale despite suggestions by his agent Jonathan Barnett that a transfer away from the Spanish capital is unlikely for the 30-year-old (ESPN).

The report claims that Madrid would like to sell Bale in the summer but accept that they are unlikely to find a buyer before the transfer window closes this month with China mentioned still as the Welshman’s most likely destination.

Bale came close to sealing a move to the Chinese league in the summer only for the move to fall through in the last moment (The Guardian).

Reports in the British press last month suggested that Tottenham were considering offering Bale a move back to North London and that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy had already held discussions with Jose Mourinho about signing the Madrid forward (Bleacher Report).

The former Spurs star’s bumper wages would be the biggest barrier to any potential deal bringing him back to Tottenham.

Given the wages Bale is on and his seeming unwillingness to take a pay cut for a move, this transfer has next to no chance of happening. While Bale returning to Tottenham is something that will have every Spurs fan excited, in reality, we could invest the money much more wisely than on an injury-prone 30-year-old.
