Report: Recent contract development has ‘alerted’ Spurs to PL star

The Express have reported that Tottenham Hotspur have been ‘alerted’ to Danny Ings’ situation this summer after the Southampton striker reportedly turned down a new contract offer.

This comes after The Athletic reported earlier today that Ings had turned down a new four-year offer that would have made him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

While money was not a stumbling block for Danny Ings, it is claimed that he wanted a release clause in the contract to allow him to move to a big club if one came knocking.

As such, he will now report to pre-season training and wait to see whether one of the top Premier League club’s makes a bid for him this summer.

Eurosport reported earlier this year that Spurs were looking at the Saints man as a potential signing as he has just 12 months left on his current contract.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I’m sure that Spurs will be having a good hard look at Ings this summer now that he has turned a new contract down. With Carlos Vinicius going back to Benfica, Tottenham need a new striker and Ings could represent an absolute bargain.
