Report: Referee appointed for Tottenham’s semi-final clash against Brentford

Mike Dean has been appointed as the referee for Tottenham Hotspur’s EFL Cup semi-final clash against Brentford on Tuesday.

The match is one of the biggest of the season so far for Spurs, who are trying to break their near 13-year trophy drought.

Brentford have beaten several Premier League sides on their way to the final four and Jose Mourinho has admitted that he expects a tough test against the Championship side tomorrow.

Mike Dean, one of the most experienced referees in the circuit, will take charge of the all-important semi-final at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 52-year-old has taken charge of FA Cup Finals, League Cup Finals, Play-Off finals, as well as matches in FIFA tournaments in the past.

Tottenham have won 31 and drawn 19 in 71 matches where Mike Dean has officiated.

The experienced referee has not been particularly trigger-happy this season having sent off just one player and given three penalties in the matches he has officiated in the top flight.
