Report: Representative from Spurs met with Roma chiefs over Zaniolo deal this week

Sky Italia journalist, Angelo Mangiante has reported that representatives from Tottenham Hotspur met with Roma this week over a potential deal for Nicolo Zaniolo.

This comes after a Corriere dello Sport report claimed last week that Tottenham had a €50m bid for Zaniolo turned down by Roma this summer (via Sport Witness).

Mangiante claimed that Tottenham arrived at Trigoria, Roma’s training centre, ‘ready with an offer to open an official negotiation’. However, it is said that the Serie A side shut down such talk immediately.

Reinforcing what was earlier reported by Corriere dello Sport, the Sky Italia journalist added that Roma simply are not willing to sell their star man this summer.

The Italian playmaker continued his fine form this season with eight goals and three assists in 33 games despite suffering a nasty cruciate ligament rupture (TransferMarkt).

TransferMarkt list his current market valuation at £49.5m, although it seems as if Spurs will have to play the waiting game if they want to secure this signing.
