Report reveals £8.6m update on Gareth Bale’s Tottenham future

AS have now provided an update on the future of Gareth Bale, with the Welshman’s loan spell at Tottenham coming to an end in a couple of weeks.

The winger is due to link up with the Wales squad for the European Championships, providing he remains fit and injury-free, before technically returning to Real Madrid.

AS claim that Madrid loaned Bale out to Spurs in the hope that it would eventually lead to a permanent exit this summer, with one year remaining on the player’s contract (as relayed by Sport Witness).

The Spanish club were apparently hoping that either Spurs would want to keep him or another Premier League club would like the look of him.

While that looked unlikely halfway through the season under Jose Mourinho, AS claim that the situation has now changed.

The report says that Madrid are now more optimistic about their chances of selling and it is suggested that the club could get around £8.6m for him. However, that would of course involve Bale taking a substantial wage cut.
