Report reveals best offer Tottenham have made for Zaniolo so far – ‘Very far from Roma’s requests’

Monday’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (08/08/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness) has revealed that despite Tottenham’s interest in Nicolo Zaniolo, the Premier League club’s offer for the winger falls well short of AS Roma’s valuation.

Both Calciomercato.it and AS Roma Live have reported over recent days that Roma have told Spurs they would have to pay €50m (£42.1m) to sign Zaniolo this summer.

Both publications also claimed that Spurs were contemplating whether to make an offer over the coming days and suggested the North London club are ready to include the likes of Japhet Tanganga, Harry Winks and Tanguy Ndombele as potential makeweights in the deal.

Gazzetta have claimed today that Antonio Conte’s men remain ‘very interested’ in Zaniolo but the Lilywhites’ best offer for the 23-year-old so far is a loan with an obligation to buy at €25m (£21m).

The report asserts the offer is ‘very far from Roma’s requests’ and that there will be ‘no possibility’ for the winger to leave the Stadio Olimpico unless Spurs improve their bid.

However, Gazzetta do add that Jose Mourinho’s side are keen on signing another central defender this summer and that we should ‘keep an eye on Tottenham’s Tanganga’.

Spurs Web Opinion

I think it will become clearer within the next week whether Spurs are serious about their pursuit of Zaniolo. I believe that Kulusevski’s impressive display on Saturday makes the club less likely to make a big-money move for the Italian international.
