Report reveals centre-back wants to join bigger club than Spurs

According to a report from El Desmarque, Jules Kounde is not particularly excited about the prospect of joining Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Kounde has been a revelation since moving to Seville from Bordeaux back in 2019 and has admitted that he is ready to make a big move this summer.

Fabrizio Romano claimed last week that Tottenham were in talks with the centre-back’s representatives while La Colina de Nervion reported a few days ago that the North London club were ready to make a £50m offer for the 22-year-old.

El Desmarque now suggest that Sevilla wish to cash in on Kounde this summer but could face trouble in receiving an offer that is close to their valuation of the defender.

It is explained that the La Liga club had previously rejected a €55m (£47.2m) offer from Manchester City for the French international.

With the likes of City, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea not prioritising a move for Kounde, it is asserted that only ‘a second tier’ choice like Tottenham remains an option for the centre-back.

The report adds that Spurs have ‘asked’ about Kounde but a move to the Lilywhites does not completely satisfy the former Bordeaux defender.

Spurs Web Opinion

Kounde is a level above the other central defenders we have been linked with over recent weeks like VestergaardMilenkovic and Tomiyasu. However, the Sevilla man is also likely to be much more expensive and it remains to be seen if he will be willing to join a club who are not in the Champions League.
