Football Insider have reported that Christian Eriksen is keen on the idea of a ‘sensational’ return to Tottenham Hotspur this summer if a deal can be found.
The same report claims Spurs are among the Premier League clubs keeping tabs on Eriksen and are plotting an effort to sign him as a free agent this summer.
While the Dane is currently contracted to Brentford, where he has scored once and assisted two in six games (TransferMarkt), he only signed a six-month contract in January, meaning he will leave on a free deal at the end of the current campaign.
Of course, Eriksen will be open to renegotiate with Brentford and remain with the London club should he wish, but he may also have interest from a number of their Premier League rivals, if Football Insider are to be believed.
After suffering a cardiac arrest in Denmark’s Euro 2020 opener, the midfielder has now played the full 90 minutes in five of Brentford’s last six matches (TransferMarkt).
Spurs Web Opinion:
This feels like a no-brainer for all involved. Tottenham get a class player on a free. Conte gets another creative player, and one he has worked with before at that. Eriksen gets a move back to a big club, where he will feel loved and supported. Let’s get it done!
