Report reveals details of Lucas Bergvall sell-on clause and add-ons in Spurs deal

At the start of this month, Tottenham Hotspur sealed the transfer of one of the most highly-rated young talents in Europe when they snatched Lucas Bergvall from under Barcelona’s nose. Now, further details of that deal have emerged.

The signing of Bergvall has been heralded by many as a strong signal of intent for Tottenham‘s future, with the club looking to lay foundations for years to come by acquiring the best young talent.

Bergvall is thought to have signed for Spurs on an initial £8.5m deal (Daily Mail), and will remain with his former side, Djurgarden, on loan until the end of the current campaign.

There are high hopes for the 18-year-old, too. Tottenham’s technical director, Johan Lange, has spoken of the ‘great potential’ Bergvall possesses, while Spurs manager, Ange Postecoglou, has revealed how excited he is for the youngster to join up with his squad.

Lucas Bergvall transfer details revealed

While we will have to wait to see the Swedish midfielder on the field for Spurs, we do now know a lot more about the nature of his transfer to North London thanks to a report from Football.London containing details from Djurgarden.

It is said there were five written offers for Bergvall before he ultimately chose Spurs as his next destination. As part of the agreement, the Lilywhites “will pay off his transfer fee across a maximum of three instalments.”

Looking deeper at the deal, there are “performance-related add-ons” included which are all said to be “very achievable.” And perhaps most interestingly, there is also a resale clause involved, which has the “highest possible” percentage for Djurgarden in the event of Spurs moving Bergvall on.

Just to sweeten the deal, there is also now a “more formal” connection between the two clubs. This will involve the mutual exchange of players where it is deemed fit, and the prospect of friendlies being played between Spurs and Djurgarden, too.

This all sounds more than reasonable, to be honest. It will be good to have that link between the two clubs and hopefully, it can benefit both sides of the agreement.
