Report reveals how Arsenal could help Tottenham to find an exit for Lo Celso

El Periodico Mediterraneo have claimed that Arsenal’s move for Villarreal winger Yeremy Pino could help the La Liga club fund the signing of a player like Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

Reports over recent days have indicated that Villarreal have stepped up their pursuit of Lo Celso (Fabrizio Romano) but there are doubts over whether the La Liga club could afford a permanent deal for the Argentine.

Sky Sport Italia claimed on Tuesday that La Liga’s financial fair play rules could prevent Unai Emery’s side from signing the Tottenham man.

The Sun then suggested on Wednesday that the Spanish club would only be able to sign the 26-year-old on loan, unless they raise funds through player sales.

El Periodico Mediterraneo have now reported that Villarreal could fund a move for Lo Celso by selling Pino to Arsenal this summer.

The report claims that the La Liga club are expecting a ‘lucrative offer’ from the Gunners for the winger, with Mikel Arteta said to be ‘in love’ with him.

The 19-year-old reportedly has a release clause of €80m (£67.5m) but Arsenal have been backed to make an offer of around €50m (£42.2m).

El Periodico Mediterraneo claim that Emery’s men are expected to accept such an offer for Pino and use the funds to balance the books and sign their own targets, with Lo Celso mentioned.

Other than Yeremy Pino, Villarreal also have other sought-after players in their squad like Pau Torres, Arnaut Danjuma and Pervis Estupinan. Hopefully, the La Liga club will be able to cash in on at least one of those players over the next couple of weeks so they can afford to pay a fee for Lo Celso.
