Report reveals how Conte feels about Cristian Stellini taking over at Spurs

The Telegraph have revealed that Antonio Conte gave his blessing for Cristian Stellini to take over as interim head coach until the end of the season.

Spurs confirmed on Sunday that the club and Conte had mutually agreed to part ways. The announcement certainly did not come as a surprise, with the only surprising element being the fact that it took more than a week since the Italian’s tirade against his players for the news to emerge.

However, what did catch many people off guard was the announcement that Stellini will take over as acting head coach until the end of the season, with Ryan Mason as his assistant.

The Telegraph have now revealed that Conte have his blessing for his long-term number two stay in his absence and help guide Spurs to Champions League qualification for a second successive season.

The 48-year-old did take charge of the side when Conte was recovering in Italy after his gallbladder surgery and boasts of a respectable record when calling the shots in N17.

If Conte did give Stellini his backing to stay until the end of the season, that suggests that the divorce between the Italian and the club was amicable.

It was probably the best decision Tottenham could have made as their top managerial targets would likely have wanted to wait until the summer to assess the various offers that come their way.
