Report reveals how Dele Alli is feeling as Mourinho continues to drop him from Spurs squad

According to a report in The Daily Mail, Dele Alli has been left frustrated by the lack of explanation offered by Jose Mourinho regarding why he has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham.

The midfielder was one of Tottenham’s most-improved players in the first few weeks after Mourinho arrived in North London but he has since endured a dramatic fall from grace at the start of this season, failing to make the matchday squad on several occasions.

Alli was handed a rare start against Royal Antwerp last Thursday but was hauled off by Mourinho at half-time after a disappointing display.

The Mail claims that the Spurs boss has not sat down with the midfielder to explain why he is not playing and what he needs to do to get back into the side.

It is said that Tottenham’s decision to reject three loan offers from PSG for the England international during the transfer window has only added to Dele’s frustration.

With Mourinho appearing unlikely to change his mind on Alli anytime soon, it is suggested that PSG could return with another loan offer in January.

The midfielder is reportedly keen to seal a move away from Spurs as he still harbours hope of getting into Gareth Southgate’s squad for the Euros next summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Jose has insisted multiple times that it is up to the midfielder to prove that he deserves to be starting. Unfortunately, I just do not see him getting back into the side as the variation of a 4-3-3 we are playing at the moment does not suit him. Kane is now shouldering a lot of the creative burden by dropping deep and Alli is not really effective without a central striker to play off. Erik Lamela and Tanguy Ndombele also seem much better fits for the number 8 role than Dele because of the intensity they bring to the table and the speed with which they move the ball.
