Report reveals how likely Tottenham are to sign Milan Skriniar in January

According to a report from The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur are more likely to sign Milan Skriniar next summer than they are in January transfer window.

Previous reports revealed that Skriniar was at the top of Jose Mourinho’s wishlist during the summer transfer window.

At one point, tt looked certain that the North Londoners were going to snap up the Slovakian international, with Tottenham’s technical director Steve Hitchen even being pictured with the central defender’s agent in Italy (Gianluca Di Marzio).

Football.London have suggested that Spurs could make another attempt to snap up the 25-year-old during the January transfer window.

However, The Athletic have now said that a deal for the Inter Milan star will be difficult for the North Londoners to pull off next month.

The report reveals that the Nerazzurri are reluctant to sell the defender in January as he is now a regular starter for Antonio Conte’s side.

While Inter are said to be keen to trim their wage bill, it is alleged that they are looking to sell the likes of Christian Eriksen, Radja Nainggolan and Ivan Perisic before they would consider moving Skriniar on.

The report also adds that Tottenham have not given up hopes of signing the central defender in January but that a deal in the summer is more realistic.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Davinon Sanchez leaves in January, I believe Jose will be desperate to sign a central defender. Skriniar will be the ideal choice but the likelihood of us paying Inter’s asking price for the Slovak will likely depend on how much money we could generate through player sales.
