Report reveals how Liverpool’s Carabao Cup win could impact Spurs’ European hopes

Football.London have revealed that Tottenham, Man United, Arsenal and West Ham’s quest of qualifying for Europe could be boosted by Liverpool winning the Carabao Cup.

Liverpool overcame Chelsea on penalties to lift the Carabao Cup on Sunday, thus ending Manchester City’s dominance of the competition.

Football.London reveal that the winners of the competition were guaranteed a place in next season’s Europa Conference League.

However, since Liverpool are on course to qualify for the Champions League, one European spot could be available for teams further down the league.

Following the Reds Carabao Cup win, it is explained that if a team that finishes in the top five wins the FA Cup, then teams who finish fifth and sixth in the Premier League this season will gain entry into the Europa League.

That would mean that the team which finishes in seventh place will be awarded a place in next season’s Conference League.

Football.London explain that this could further be impacted if Leicester win this season’s Conference League as that would guarantee the Foxes a place in next season’s Europa League.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am desperate for Spurs to not have the distraction of the Europa Conference League next season. If we cannot finish in the top six, I would rather see us finish eighth, so that we can purely focus our efforts on the Premier League and domestic cup competitions next season.
