Report reveals how much Ajax hope to pay for Steven Bergwijn this summer

De Telegraaf have claimed on their Kick-Off podcast that Ajax hope to agree a deal with Tottenham that will see Steven Bergwijn return to the Netherlands for just £13m this summer.

The news outlet report that Tottenham’s reported interest in signing Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram could spell the end of Bergwijn’s time in North London.

The Dutch winger endured a torrid time at Tottenham last season, scoring just one goal across the entire season and even that came in the final weeks. Bergwijn played 35 games, scored one and assisted seven.

Spurs paid PSV Eindhoven £27m for the attacker in January 2020, meaning that Ajax are hoping that Daniel Levy and co will take a £14m hit on Bergwijn just 18 months after signing him.

TransferMarkt currently value the player at around £20m, although Bergwijn missed the chance to showcase his talents this summer as he was not selected in the Netherlands’ final Euro 2020 squad.
