Report reveals how much Benfica want for Spurs-linked Darwin Nunez

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has revealed that Benfica are open to selling rumoured Tottenham target Darwin Nunez this summer.

Nunez is enjoying a prolific season with Benfica, having found the back of the net 31 times across all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).

It emerged last month that Jorge Mendes had approached the Uruguayan international about potentially replacing Harry Kane at Spurs this summer, with Mendes said to have a good relationship with both Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici (The Athletic).

90min subsequently claimed that Spurs are one of several English clubs to have made contact with the Benfica star, who is allegedly open to a move to the Premier League.

However, according to Ornstein’s latest update, Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are currently the front-runners to snap up Nunez this summer.

The report claims that Benfica are open to cashing in on the 22-year-old but are demanding a fee of around €70m (£58.5m) for the striker.

It is also explained that the Portuguese giants would ideally like to complete a deal early in the window so that they would have time to secure a replacement.

Spurs Web Opinion

I expect Kane to be at Spurs next season should we manage to get back into the Champions League. For that reason, I do not think we have a realistic chance of winning the race for Nunez. The likes of Man Utd and PSG need a top centre-forward much more desperately than we do and would thus be prepared to pay a much higher fee.
