Report reveals how much Leeds United value Spurs-linked Illan Meslier at

According to the print edition of The Daily Star (17/08, p45), Leeds United value rumoured Tottenham target Illan Meslier at just £25m.

It was revealed on The Athletic’s Phil Hay Show earlier this week that Tottenham were eyeing Meslier as a potential successor to Hugo Lloris, with the North London club said to be ‘particularly interested’ in the Leeds star among the various clubs keeping tabs on him.

It later emerged on Wednesday (Fabrizio Romano) that Manchester United were also keen on snapping up the France Under-21 international, although Leeds had rejected the Red Devis’ advances.

Leicester City have also been credited with an interest in Meslier by Get French Football News, who added that United had been forced to turn their attention to Borussia Dortmund’s Yann Sommar after Leeds rebuffed their efforts to sign the 22-year-old.

Quite surprisingly, The Daily Star have suggested that despite Meslier having four years left to run on his contract at Elland Road (Transfermarkt), Leeds only value him at around £25m.

However, the report does add that Jesse Marsch’s side are unlikely to sell the French shot-stopper this summer after already losing Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips during the current window.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given that Meslier is just 22 years of age and is contracted to Leeds until 2026, there is no way that the club would let him go for just £25m. The youngster has all the attributes to become a world-class goalkeeper, and I expect Leeds to demand at least twice that fee.
