Report reveals how much Spurs will have to pay Mourinho after sacking

The Independent have reported that Tottenham Hotspur will only have to pay Jose Mourinho around £15m after he was sacked on Monday morning.

The sacking came days after Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Everton and just six days before the club’s Carabao Cup Final against Man City on Sunday.

It is said that Mourinho will now see out a period of gardening leave following his dismissal from the North London club.

Miguel Delaney added that the £15m pay-off was connected to Tottenham’s current league position, seventh and five points behind West Ham in fourth.

This follows a report from The Daily Mail earlier this season stating that Spurs would have to pay significantly less than the £30m left on Mourinho’s contract if they sacked him.

It was claimed that there were clauses in the contract based on performance linked to European qualification and that Mourinho’s basic pay was £10m-per-year rather than £15m-per-year.

At this point, I’ll take £15m. It was a decision that needed to be made, albeit with strange timing.
