Report reveals how much Villarreal are ready to bid for Spurs’ Gio Lo Celso

According to a report from El Periodico Mediterraneo, Villarreal are ready to launch an opening offer to sign Giovani Lo Celso permanently.

Lo Celso enjoyed an outstanding second half of the season since joining Villarreal on loan in January and it was previously reported that Spurs were ready to cash in on the Argentine, with Conte not believing he is a good fit for the Premier League (Estadio Deportivo).

El Periodico Mediterraneo have now claimed that the Spurs midfielder is Unai Emery’s top transfer target during this summer transfer window.

The report explains it was the former Arsenal boss who pushed for the midfielder’s signing in January, having worked with him previously at Paris Saint-Germain.

Emery and those at Villarreal are said to have been impressed with the Spurs star’s professionalism off the pitch as well as his versatility and quality on it.

Lo Celso is said to be keen on sealing the permanent move to the La Liga club while Spurs are thought to be open to cashing in on the midfielder.

However, the report states it will ‘not be a simple operation’, with Villarreal not being able to afford anywhere close to the fee that Spurs paid to sign the midfielder from Real Betis in 2019.

It is asserted that the Yellow Submarine are willing to offer a fee of around €18m (£15.3m) for the 26-year-old, along with bonuses and a percentage of proceeds from the player’s future sale.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think there is any chance of Spurs selling Lo Celso for a fee as low as £15m. The North London club will be hoping to get closer to £25m on the back of his impressive displays at El Madrigal. Lo Celso should also have no shortage of suitors this summer, particularly in Spain.
