Report reveals how new West Ham bid could help Spurs to shift Gio Lo Celso

Napoli will turn their attention towards signing Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso once they move forward with Piotr Zielinski’s proposed switch to West Ham, according to La Repubblica (30/07/22 via CalcioNapoli24).

The Patenopei are expecting the Hammers to raise their bid to 40 million to sign the Poland international after tuning down a preciously insufficient opening bid.

Should a deal materialise, the report claims Napoli sporting director Giuntoli will ramp up efforts to secure their replacement in Lo Celso, who has been made available for an exit from Tottenham.

It adds Spurs are open to structuring a deal as a loan with an option to make it permanent next summer – a formula which would suit Napoli over other Serie A sides.

Lo Celso, who joined Spurs in 2019, has endured a difficult stint in north London having failed to reproduce his performances from his time at Real Betis.

The Argentina international spent the second half of last season on loan at Villarreal and impressed in his 21 outings for the club (Transfermarkt) as they reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Upon returning to Spurs over the summer, he has not played a part in Antonio Conte’s pre-season preparations having been left out of the squad that travelled on tour to South Korea this month.

Spurs Web Opinion

Napoli’s interest in Lo Celso is good news for Spurs considering they want to offload him so much this summer. It looks like Zielinski’s proposed move to West Ham is heading in the right direction but the deal for Lo Celso somewhat hinges on that deal which isn’t always the best scope.
