Report reveals how Pochettino’s likely appointment at PSG could hand Arsenal transfer blow

According to CalcioMercato, Mauricio Pochettino’s impending appointment as Paris Saint-Germain boss could scupper any hope Arsenal have of landing former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen in January.

Eriksen has experienced an extremely difficult twelve months at Inter Milan since joining the club from Spurs at the start of the year.

Inter CEO Guisseppe Marotta has confirmed that the Serie A club will potentially look to move him on when the transfer window opens in January and a return to the Premier League has been mooted as a possibility for the midfielder.

CalcioMercato claim that Arsenal have already held talks with Inter over a possible deal for the Dane but Pochettino’s imminent appointment as PSG boss may stop the Gunners from getting their hands on the former Spurs man.

The report suggests that Pochettino could look to reunite with Eriksen in Paris and the Ligue 1 giants could offer Leandro Paredes to Inter as part of a swap deal for the 28-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not expect Eriksen to return to the Premier League, particularly since his main reason for leaving was to try something new. Even if he is to return to England, I cannot see him joining Arsenal as he will be more than aware of what it would do to his legacy at Tottenham.

It will be interesting to see if Pochettino is prepared to take him as PSG have also been linked with a move for Dele Alli. I would presume that the Ligue 1 giants are unlikely to sign just one of the either Eriksen or Alli.
