Report: Spurs have held meeting with Hojbjerg amidst Real Madrid rumours

Tottenham Hotspur are unconcerned about losing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer after Real Madrid expressed their interest in securing his services, according to Football Insider.

Real recently lost Casemiro to Manchester United in a deal worth an initial £60million plus a further £ 10 million in bonuses (GOAL).

It is said that Hojbjerg has become a potential target for the Champions League winners after seeing the Brazilian move to Old Trafford (Telegraph).

Carlo Ancelotti is allegedly a keen admirer of Hojbjerg after he tried to sign the midfielder when he was at Everton, and the manager now sees the Spurs man as a potential option to fill Real Madrid’s Casemiro void.

However, Football Insider claim Spurs are calm about the matter and are confident about fighting off any Los Blancos interest.

Antonio Conte’s side have held discussions with Hojbjerg since this new development which has further strengthened their optimism regarding the midfielder’s future at N17.

The Danish international is under contract with the North Londoners until 2025 and has also been a key player for Conte since the Italian took over the coaching role from Nuno Espirito Santo.

The assurances following Tottenham’s meeting with Hojbjerg suggest there is no cause for concern despite the La Liga club’s rumoured intentions.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Tottenham simply cannot afford to lose out on Hojbjerg in this summer transfer window under the current circumstances. After all, the 27-year-old is one of the few fully-fit key midfield options available to Conte at the moment.

With Oliver Skipp still returning from injury troubles, losing Hojbjerg would not be wise, especially when Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma are the only remaining choices. Unsettling the squad when the season has already started would also be a mistake.
