Report reveals how the Spurs squad reacted to Mourinho dropping Dele Alli

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur players were left stunned when Dele Alli was left out of the matchday squad against Southampton on Sunday.

There has been plenty of speculation over the midfielder’s future over the last week or so. It was first suggested that he could join Real Madrid on loan as part of the deal to bring Gareth Bale back to Spurs.

When that did not materialise, reports emerged that Alli had been offered to several clubs around Europe, including Paris Saint-Germain (Fabrizio Romano).

The Telegraph reveal that many Spurs stars were shocked to see the England international missing out on the matchday squad for two games in a row after he was left back in London for Spurs’ trip to Plovdiv in midweek.

The report claims that Dele is a popular figure among his team-mates, with many players fearing that the midfielder will now be frozen out by Mourinho.

It is asserted that the 24-year-old has been left upset and confused by the Tottenham boss’ latest snub.

The fact that Jose refused to give a straight answer about Dele’s future after the game suggests that Spurs are indeed looking to cash-in on the midfielder. From the outside looking in, it seems as if Alli’s first-half performance against Everton might have been the final straw as far as Mourinho was concerned. However, I do not see anyone paying Levy’s asking price for the 24-year-old before the transfer window shuts.
