The Athletic have reported that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still expected to be in charge of Manchester United for their clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Solskjaer has come under plenty of pressure following United’s humiliating 5-0 loss at home to Liverpool on Sunday.
According to Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils are considering sacking the Norwegian ahead of their trip to North London on Saturday.
Reports have indicated that Antonio Conte, Zinedine Zidane and former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino are all contenders to replace the United boss.
However, The Athletic have now revealed that Solskjaer is expected to be in the dug-out at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
The report claims that despite some of United’s stars starting to lose faith in the 48-year-old, he will ‘very likely’ be given the opportunity to rectify matters against Spurs.
It is explained that while the former Molde boss has the support of the United hierarchy for the moment, a defeat against Tottenham could see him lose his job.
It is further asserted that changes to the United side ‘are inevitable’ for the clash on Saturday.
Spurs Web Opinion
Whether or not Solskjaer is in charge on Saturday, it will still be a tough test for Spurs as the United players will be motivated to give a strong response after the criticism they have received for the 5-0 loss.
I also think Pogba’s red card could be a blessing in disguise for United as it will help them have a better balance to their side instead of forcing Solskjaer to fit all his best players into the team as he has done over recent weeks.
However, having said that, I am sure Nuno would prefer to still have Solskjaer in charge on Saturday given the pressure the United boss is under. The last thing we need is for them to appoint someone like Conte and get a new manager bounce.
