Report outlines if Thomas Tuchel would be keen on taking over at Spurs

The Athletic have suggested that Thomas Tuchel may hesitate to take over at Tottenham as the German will have his eye on other big jobs around Europe.

Tuchel has been out of work since parting ways with Chelsea back in September and reports over recent months have indicated that his name is on Tottenham’s wishlist to replace Antonio Conte in the summer (Daily Mail).

Spurs are far from the only ones thought to be eyeing the former Chelsea boss, with The Evening Standard revealing two weeks ago that Paris Saint-Germain could look to rehire the 49-year-old.

The report added that the Parisians have grown frustrated with Christophe Galtier and are willing to admit that they made a mistake by letting Tuchel leave.

The Athletic have now played down the chances of the former Borussia Dortmund boss taking over at Spurs, stating that he might feel he has ‘better options’ and be more inclined to join a club who are set up to win trophies.

The report adds that Tuchel will know that he is at the front of the queue if Bayern Munich want to replace Julian Nagelsmann while Real Madrid could also come calling for him if they decide to replace Carlo Ancelotti.

Given the makeup of the current squad at Tottenham, one can argue that Tuchel would be the best fit among all the candidates we have been linked with over the past couple of months.

However, the German will certainly have his eye on the Real Madrid job, which looks likely to be available in the summer.
