Report reveals Inter Milan’s plan for rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target

Inter Milan plan to sell rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Denzel Dumfries in order to raise funds for their own transfer dealings come the summer, according to CalcioMercatoWeb

Dumfries only joined Inter a little over a year ago, but the Italian side look set to lose the Dutchman one way or another it seems. He has seven goals and ten assists in 68 games for the Serie A outfit (Transfermarkt).

After turning in some impressive displays at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Netherlands wing-back has attracted attention from top clubs across Europe. Dumfries took his international tally to six goals in 42 appearances, and even contributed two assists at the World Cup (Transfermarkt).

Having been linked with a move to Spurs for a while, it has emerged that Dumfries is essentially Tottenham’s back-up option in case their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Porro comes to nothing (Gazzetta). However, according to InterLive, both Chelsea and Aston Villa are also keen on Dumfries.

The report suggests Inter Milan are more than happy to let the 26-year-old go, as they look ahead to the summer and the reinforcements they want to make to their own squad.

It is believed that Inter would welcome a big offer for Dumfries, in order to fund respective moves for Torino pair Stephane Singo and Per Schuurs, who are at the top of boss Simeone Inzaghi’s shopping list.

Serie A rivals Juventus are also reportedly keen on Singo, but Inter feel that by offloading Dumfries, they will have the financial muscle to get the double swoop completed in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

It says a lot when a club is actively looking to sell a player after a season and a half, and I think Spurs should be very wary of moving for Denzel Dumfries. There are better options out there, and for cheaper, too.
