Report reveals January update on Tottenham-linked Ruslan Malinovskyi

TuttoAtalanta have revealed that the future of Tottenham target Ruslan Malinovskyi could depend on the role he is given at Atalanta over the coming months.

Despite being heavily linked with a move to Spurs in the final month of the summer transfer window (TuttoMercatoWeb), Malinovskyi ended up staying put at Atalanta.

Fabrizio Romano revealed on Saturday that both Tottenham and Marseille wanted to sign the attacking midfielder on loan with an option to buy but Atalanta president Antonio Percassi prevented the player from leaving.

Romano added that the 29-year-old’s future ‘remains open for next year’.

This information has now been backed up by TuttoAtalanta, who claim that Malinovskyi’s future could once again be the topic of much discussion during the January transfer window.

The report adds that the player preferred to join Spurs over the summer but was also open to moving to Marseille. It is explained that the Ukranian’s future could depend on how Gian Piero Gasperini uses him over the next few months.

Even if Malinovskyi does not sign a new contract over the coming months, perhaps he might prefer to wait until next summer and leave Atalanta on a free transfer. That way, he would likely get a decent signing-on fee and would probably have more options to choose from.
