Report reveals key reason why Julian Nagelsmann dropped out of Chelsea race

The Independent have revealed that Tottenham managerial target, Julian Nagelsmann was simply not on board with the duties off the training ground that he would have had to do at Chelsea.

It has been reported for quite a while that Nagelsmann was at the top of both Tottenham’s and Chelsea’s wishlist to replace Antonio Conte and Graham Potter respectively (Football Insider).

The last 24 hours have seen plenty of developments in the race for the recently departed Bayern Munich boss, with Fabrizio Romano revealing on Friday evening that he has withdrawn himself from the race for the Blues job.

Christian Falk subsequently handed a big boost to Tottenham fans by revealing earlier today Nagelsmann had decided to exit the Chelsea recruitment process in order to concentrate on the Spurs vacancy.

The Independent have now dug into the exact reason why the German has said no to the prospect of managing Chelsea.

The publication reveals that after having comprehensive discussions with the West London club, the 35-year-old felt that the job is not a ‘full fit’ for how he wanted to work since there were ‘too many duties’ outside coaching.

If it is true that Julian Nagelsmann wants a pure coaching role and does not want too much additional responsibility, then he should fit in quite well with the set-up in place at Tottenham.

However, it would mean that the North London club would have to act swiftly to appoint a suitable director of football to replace Fabio Paratici.
