Report reveals latest on Franck Kessie’s contract as Tottenham circle

According to Il Milanista, Franck Kessie’s departure from AC Milan is becoming more and more likely with each passing day, with the talks between the midfielder’s entourage and the club thought to have come to a standstill.

Kessie’s current deal runs out at the end of the season and Tottenham are reported to be one of several clubs across Europe who are monitoring his situation.

Newcastle United have also been mooted as a potential destination for the Ivory Coast international following their takeover by a Saudi-led consortium.

Italian journalist Daniele Longo has claimed that the 24-year-old is more likely to leave as a free agent next summer while other reports have suggested that a January exit is on the cards for the player.

According to Il Milanista’s latest update, the negotiations have now come to a standstill, with Kessie thought to be demanding a salary of €8m a year (£6.7m) while the Rossoneri are not willing to offer beyond €6.5m (£5.4m).

The report adds that the chances of the midfielder renewing his contract at the San Siro are now ‘really low’.

Apart from Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Barcelona are also said to be keeping tabs on Kessie.

Spurs Web Opinion

Kessie is certainly not going to have a shortage of offers whether he leaves in a cut-price deal in January or as a free agent next summer.

Hopefully, Paratici’s contacts and relationships in Italian football will give us an edge over the likes of United and Barca in the race for the 24-year-old.
