Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Fiorentina are ready to launch a loan offer to sign Giovani Lo Celso with an option to buy for €20m (£16.8m).
Over recent days, reports have indicated that Villarreal have stepped up their efforts to sign Lo Celso on the back of the midfielder’s loan spell at the club during the second half of last season (Fabrizio Romano).
Di Marzio has now claimed that the La Liga club have made an offer for the Tottenham man but have ‘not yet closed’ the operation. It is alleged that Fiorentina are waiting to pounce if Unai Emery’s men are not able to agree on a deal with Spurs.
The journalist states that while returning to Villarreal would be Lo Celso’s preference, the Argentine is also open to the idea of moving to Artemio Franchi Stadium this summer.
The report suggests that the Viola are ready to table a loan offer with an option to buy the midfielder for €20m (£16.8m) this week.
Di Marzio adds that Lazio and Napoli also ‘like’ Lo Celso but neither club have substantiated their interest in the Spurs star.
Spurs Web Opinion
From the various reports over recent days, It does appear as if Villarreal are expected to agree a deal with Spurs for Lo Celso over the coming days.
One can understand why the Argentine would be keen to return to the club ahead of the World Cup in November. Spurs will likely be pushing for an obligation to buy rather than just an option.
