Report reveals Marcel Sabitzer may now be available for cut price

According to a report from The Athletic, rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Marcel Sabitzer looks set to leave RB Leipzig for a cut-price transfer fee this summer.

There is uncertainty surrounding the future of Dele Alli, with some reports indicating that the main reason the midfielder started Tottenham’s final five league games of the season was that the club wanted to put him in the shop window ahead of the summer.

Spurs are unlikely to make a decision on the future of the likes of Alli before they appoint a new head coach (according to Fabrizio Romano) but if the England international does leave this summer, the club could be in the market for an attacking midfielder.

One man who is capable of replacing the goals that Alli delivered (at least until 2019) is Sabitzer, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham.

Even the ever-reliable Alasdair Gold has said that he expects the North Londoners to compete for the Austrian international’s signature this summer.

The Athletic have now revealed that Sabitzer could be the next Leipzig star to leave the Red Bull Arena following the departures of Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano.

The report reveals that the Bundesliga club could sell the 27-year-old, who has just 12 months left on his contract, for around €17.5m (£15m).

It is asserted, however, that Spurs could face some competition for Sabitzer, with the versatile midfielder also attracting ‘envious glances’ from several other Premier League sides.
