Report reveals Mourinho’s mood has been affected by Conte joining Spurs

La Gazzetta dello Sport have claimed (as relayed by Football Italia) that Jose Mourinho is not indifferent to Tottenham Hotspur’s appointment of Antonio Conte.

Mourinho was sacked by Spurs in April after the Lilywhites struggled to string results together since the turn of the year.

The former Tottenham boss has never had a particularly good relationship with Conte. The pair were involved in a brutal war of words when Mourinho was at Manchester United and Conte at Chelsea.

When asked back in the summer about how his Inter side compares to Conte’s, the Portuguese coach bluntly answered that his treble-winning side should not be compared with the Inter of last season.

The 58-year-old was not too complimentary of Conte when asked last week about Tottenham appointing the Italian, insisting that the new Spurs boss was a good coach but so was Nuno Espirito Santo.

Gazzetta have now revealed that the Special One is not in a particularly good mood due to Roma’s poor run of form over recent weeks.

The report also adds that there is one other thing affecting the Roma boss’ mood apart from his side’s results – Conte’s appointment at Tottenham.

It is stated that the former Spurs boss is ‘not indifferent’ to Conte’s move to North London.

Spurs Web Opinion

Knowing Mourinho’s obsession with his own legacy and his drive to be the best coach of all time, one would not expect him to be indifferent to Conte’s appointment at Spurs.

If the Italian succeeds where Jose failed, history will not be kind to Jose’s achievements in the latter part of his career.

However, this is not something that Tottenham fans will be bothered about as there is evidently a lot of excitement among the fan base regarding the future under Conte.
