Report reveals Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans following Tottenham sacking

The Sun have revealed that Nuno Espirito Santo is desperate for a quick return to the Premier League following his sacking by Tottenham Hotspur.

Nuno lasted just four months at Spurs after replacing Jose Mourinho during the summer.

The Portuguese coach’s sacking has seemingly kickstarted the managerial merry go round in the Premier League, with Dean Smith being sacked by Aston Villa and taking over from Daniel Farke at Norwich and Steven Gerrard replacing Smith at Villa Park over recent days.

The Sun claim that Nuno wants to return to the Premier League and is waiting for an opening in the division.

However, it is explained that the Portuguese coach’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is eyeing up a move to France, with Lyon and Lille mooted as possible destinations.

Mendes allegedly believes that France is a much more viable option for Nuno than England due to the quick managerial turnarounds in Ligue 1.

It is stated that Lyon and Lille could be changing personal soon after their poor starts to the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Spurs were right to pull the plug on Nuno due to Conte’s availability, I do feel the Portuguese coach was dealt a poor hand at Spurs given the unpopularity surrounding his appointment and the Kane saga during the summer.

The 47-year-old might have fared better had he stuck to the principles that served him well at Wolves rather than trying to play front-foot football due to the demands of the club and the fans.

He demonstrated over several years at the Molineux that he is a very good coach and a bad few months does not change that. I hope he gets a job in the Premier League soon and I would not put it beyond him to succeed at a mid-table club.
