Report reveals one condition under which 25-year-old would join Tottenham

According to the latest reports from France, Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan will only agree on a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer if he receives a guarantee of playing time.

Maignan is reportedly one of the shot-stoppers on Spurs’ radar this summer as they look to snap up a successor for Hugo Lloris (Tuttosport via Tribal Football).

A report from L’Equipe (as relayed by Inside Football) suggests that Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are competing for Maignan’s signature this summer.

However, the report states that the goalkeeper is keen to be a part of France’s squad for the Euros next year and does not want to risk losing his place in the national team by spending a year on the bench.

Although the 25-year-old has not been capped by Les Bleus as of yet, he has been a part of the last few squads and is reportedly keen to continue within Didier Deschamps’ set up.

Meanwhile, it is asserted that Chelsea may have to sell Kepa Arrizabalaga before they can move for the Lille star.

Even if we were to sign a potential first-choice goalkeeper this summer, I expect the player to be slowly nurtured into the team rather than take Hugo’s spot straight away. If Maignan demands the number one shirt, it might prove a hurdle in completing the transfer as the Spurs skipper has certainly been in fantastic form since the restart.
