Report reveals only way Spurs-linked Weston McKennie can avoid January exit

CalcioMercato have claimed that Juventus could cash in on rumoured Tottenham target Weston McKennie unless he proves to Massimiliano Allegri that he can contribute a significant number of goals from midfield.

McKennie was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham over the summer, with sources alleging that Fabio Paratici was keen on reuniting with the midfielder he signed for Juventus.

It was even rumoured that the Spurs managing director had offered Tanguy Ndombele in a swap deal to Juventus in exchange for the USA international but the 23-year-old ended up staying put in Turin.

CalcioMercato have now revealed that Spurs and West Ham both showed interest in McKennie during the summer and the duo could be joined by Aston Villa in January.

The report reveals that despite staying at the Allianz Stadium this summer, McKennie’s future at Juventus is far from certain.

It is asserted that Allegri has informed the midfielder he wants ten goals from him over the course of the season.

If the midfielder does not add more goals to his game, the Serie A giants could allegedly move him on when the transfer window reopens in three months.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not as big a fan of McKennie as some Spurs fans on social media seem to be. I am not convinced that he would be an upgrade on Ndombele, Dele Alli or Lo Celso.

However, Paratici clearly seems to rate the 23-year-old highly, having played a pivotal role in taking him to Juventus. So, I would not be surprised if Tottenham renewed their interest in the American in January.
