Report reveals out-of-favour Spurs star is keen for a run of matches in the side

According to a report by The Times, Gareth Bale wants to get a run of games in the Tottenham side so that he can prove his worth.

Bale looks a long way off establishing himself in the Tottenham starting eleven with the Welshman having struggled to impose himself on matches when opportunities have come his way.

Reports indicate that the 31-year-old’s relationship with Mourinho is becoming strained due to issues regarding the winger’s fitness.

Mourinho was critical of Bale’s recent Instagram post which suggested that he had a good training session on Tuesday, with the Spurs boss insisting that the post contradicted reality.

The Times claims that Bale wants to start some matches so that he can build up his fitness and start producing on the pitch.

It is claimed that the 31-year-old retains an appetite to play, despite some suggestions to the contrary.

The on-loan Real Madrid star is said to want to get some football under his belt so that he can peak during the Euros in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Mourinho is in a bit of a catch-22 situation here as results are paramount at this stage of the season and the Spurs boss cannot afford to allow Bale to play himself into fitness if the Welshman does not produce good performances. However, if he continues using him sparingly, the winger will never build up the fitness and momentum he needs to get anywhere near his best.
